The management of the newly constructed $2 million bus terminal in Nabouwalu, Bua, has officially been entrusted to the Savusavu Town Council. This strategic decision, announced by the Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa, emphasizes the importance of local governance, ensuring that the facility aligns with the community’s specific needs.

Nalumisa remarked, “Local infrastructure should be cared for by local people. They know what commuters, operators, and businesses need daily.” This sentiment underlines the significance of community involvement in managing public resources.

The newly opened terminal boasts essential amenities, including covered waiting areas, offices, and a police post, addressing longstanding concerns of travelers who previously faced exposure to the elements. Nalumisa highlighted that families now have a secure and clean environment to rest, while the terminal also ensures that elderly individuals can wait comfortably and with dignity.

In addition to its primary functions, the terminal accommodates five kiosks, three food outlets, a handicraft stall, and a hair salon, all operated by local entrepreneurs. “These kiosks open doors for local businesses. They create opportunities for families here in Bua,” Nalumisa emphasized, showcasing the positive ripple effects on the local economy.

Moreover, the terminal is envisioned as a catalyst for Nabouwalu’s development into a service center for the province. “This terminal is more than a building; it is the start of a town center that can bring jobs, attract investment, and support the growth of Bua,” he stated, reflecting an optimistic outlook for the region’s economic prospects.

This development not only enhances the infrastructure of the area but also signifies a commitment to fostering local entrepreneurship and community well-being, painting a hopeful picture for the future of Nabouwalu and its residents.
