Secondary education has become more accessible for families in Sawanikula Village, Naitasiri, with the recent inauguration of Naboro Junior Secondary School. This important milestone allows students to continue their education locally, alleviating the need for long and arduous travel to distant schools.
The new institution has welcomed 30 Year 9 students and is supported by a dedicated team of seven teachers. This development has been met with enthusiasm from the community, which has long awaited such an opportunity for their children.
At the opening ceremony, Minister for Education Hon. Aseri Radrodro emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing educational access in rural areas. He noted significant contributions from the Ministry of Education, including 30 desks and chairs, along with library materials valued at $1,678. Additionally, he highlighted ongoing initiatives like the $200 Back-to-School program and eTransport cards that further assist families.
Minister Radrodro inspired the students by underscoring the vital role education plays in overcoming social challenges faced by youth today. He encouraged them to strive for excellence, citing successful rural schools as examples that strong academic performance is possible regardless of geographical limitations.
