Authorities are working diligently to identify a body discovered in a residence on Makita Street in Domain, Suva on December 19, 2024.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mesake Waqa reported that the deceased, a man believed to be in his 50s, had been living alone at the property at the time of his passing. Due to significant decay, the body has not yet been formally identified.

Efforts are underway to connect with the deceased’s relatives who are currently living abroad. Investigators have determined that the man resided alone, prompting further examinations, including a post-mortem and DNA tests, to ascertain his identity. The police have secured the area while they continue to explore the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

This situation underscores the importance of community connections and support systems, especially for those who live alone. It serves as a reminder to reach out to friends and family who may be isolated, as community awareness can play a crucial role in ensuring everyone’s safety and well-being.
