The Ministry of Health and Medical Services is actively looking into a serious situation that unfolded at the Warwick Resort in Sigatoka. Last night, seven guests arrived at Sigatoka Hospital displaying symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and neurological issues after consuming a cocktail from the resort’s bar.

Among those affected are four Australians, one American, and two foreign nationals who reside in Fiji. The ages of the patients range from 18 to 56 years, and due to the severity of their conditions, they have all been transferred to Lautoka Hospital for further treatment.

In response to this troubling event, the Ministry has deployed a team of Health Inspectors to carry out a thorough investigation at the resort. Their focus will also include identifying any additional guests who might be experiencing similar symptoms linked to the same drink.

In conjunction with this, the Fiji Police Force is conducting its own inquiry into the incident. Additionally, the Ministry is urging the public to exercise caution and to be vigilant about the safety of food and drinks consumed during the festive season.

In light of this incident, it is crucial for hospitality venues to ensure the safety and health of their guests, and for individuals to remain informed and cautious about their choices. While this situation poses challenges, it also emphasizes the importance of health regulations and the collective effort required to maintain safety standards in the tourism industry.
