The investigation into the discovery of an empty bullet shell casing aboard a Fiji Airways flight continues to face challenges in identifying the individual responsible for placing the item on the plane. Civil Aviation Minister Viliame Gavoka provided an update on the situation in Parliament, disclosing that the casing was discovered on April 7 during a routine security check and that the aircraft had operated on three different legs: Dallas to Nadi, Fiji to Sydney, and Sydney back to Fiji.
Gavoka highlighted the complexities of the investigation, pointing to the shared nature of overhead compartments that makes it difficult to determine who might have placed the casing there. Upon the discovery of the bullet, the Fiji Police were promptly notified, followed by a secondary search of the aircraft before boarding resumed.
