Authorities have confirmed that the remains found on Tuesday afternoon in Tamaivua-i-Wai belong to a 15-year-old student who had been missing since December 24, 2025.
The teenager was last seen leaving his home in the company of friends, with plans to head to Suva, but he failed to return, raising alarms among his family. Concerned relatives conducted their own search efforts throughout the settlement and reached out to extended family and friends in hopes of locating him.
On the day of the discovery, the family visited the Samabula Police Station to officially report him missing. Later that day, a 30-year-old man, while in the area, discovered the body and promptly alerted the authorities. The victim was confirmed by his parents through the clothing found at the scene.
The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
