Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Minister, Lynda Tabuya, has stated that it is not solely the government’s responsibility to provide financial support to social welfare recipients.
Tabuya remarked, “It is not the sole responsibility of the government to financially sustain the welfare of our social welfare recipients.”
She emphasized that this responsibility remains with the family, while the government provides only supplementary support.
The Minister also praised Pacific Polytech for offering vocational training to people on social welfare as well as women.
Additionally, she noted that an allocation of $4.34 million towards the Department of Women will focus on programs supporting women’s economic empowerment and gender-responsive budgeting.
