A slow‑moving trough of low pressure is producing cloudy skies, showers and embedded thunderstorms across Fiji while a moderate to strong southeast wind flow affects the southern islands. A Strong Wind Warning remains in force for the Southern Lau Group, Yasayasa Moala, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, and rough sea conditions are expected in those areas.
For the Southern Lau Group, Yasayasa Moala, Kadavu and adjacent islets, southeast winds will average around 40 km/h with gusts up to 55 km/h and seas will be rough. Elsewhere across the group winds will be moderate to fresh from the southeast, gusty at times, with moderate to rough seas. Mariners and coastal communities should exercise caution in exposed areas.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be frequent over parts of eastern and southern Viti Levu and the central island groups. Occasional showers with isolated heavy falls and thunder are expected over the Greater Suva/Nausori–Tailevu area, Serua–Namosi–Naitasiri, Lomaiviti and Lau groups, and Kadavu; Rakiraki, southern Bua and Cakaudrove provinces are likely to see cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, conditions will generally be partly cloudy with isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low‑lying and flood‑prone areas.
The outlook for Monday remains similar: eastern and southern parts of Viti Levu (from Coral Coast/ Sigatoka through Suva up to Rakiraki), the Yasawa group, Vatulele, Beqa, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands can expect southeast winds averaging about 40 km/h with gusts to 55 km/h and rough seas. Other areas should see moderate to fresh southeast winds, at times gusty, with moderate to rough seas. Occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely in several districts, with continued risk of localised flash flooding where heavy falls occur.
Temperatures around the main population centres are generally in the mid‑20s to low‑30s °C: Navua/Suva/Nausori and Natadradave/Korovou minima about 23°C and maxima about 29°C; Yasawa/Mamanuca, Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Nadi/Lautoka/Ba and Tavua/Rakiraki highs near 30–31°C; Labasa up to 33°C; Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni near 30°C. Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu are forecast lows around 23°C and highs around 29°C, with the same 40 km/h southeast winds and gusts to 55 km/h. Rotuma remains under the trough with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms, moderate southeasterly winds and moderate to rough seas, with temperatures near a 24°C minimum and 31°C maximum.
