St. Joseph’s Secondary School student Maryann Macedru has secured her place in athletics history by setting a new national record in the Open Women’s Shot Put category during the 2025 Easter Athletics National Championships held on April 19, 2025. Her record-setting throw reached an impressive distance of 14.74 meters, surpassing her previous achievements.
This significant milestone comes on the heels of a series of outstanding performances, including her recent triumph at the Fiji Finals, where she outperformed her previous best throw of 14.44 meters. In that competition, she had already established herself as a strong contender for top honors, showcasing her determination and talent.
Maryann is not only celebrating personal victories but is also preparing to represent Fiji at the upcoming 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau.
