The Queensland Maroons experienced a minor scare during their training session today as star centre Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, affectionately known as ‘The Hammer’, exited early after suffering a knee collision. Fortunately, a spokesperson from the Queensland Rugby League reassured fans that the injury is not serious, clarifying that it is simply a bump and should not hinder his participation in upcoming matches.

In the lead-up to Origin 1 against New South Wales on Wednesday at 10:05 PM, Maroons coach Billy Slater has had to make some adjustments to the lineup. Fullback Kalyn Ponga, who missed training on Wednesday and Thursday, is also expected to make a full recovery and play in the match. Another notable change includes the introduction of Roosters rookie Robert Toia, who will debut in the Origin series following an injury to Murray Taulagi. Val Holmes is set to transition to the wing to accommodate this lineup change.

As for the halves, Cam Munster and Daly Cherry-Evans will team up once again, while Tom Dearden has been named the bench utility. The team’s preparation continues amidst these adjustments, reflecting their resilience and adaptability in the face of injury challenges.

This situation mirrors other teams in the league, such as the South Sydney Rabbitohs, who are navigating their own injury woes while showcasing the depth of emerging talent within their rosters. As the Maroons prepare for this crucial clash, their spirit and determination highlight the excitement of the upcoming series, making fans hopeful for a thrilling contest against their rivals.

With a strong squad and an optimistic outlook, Queensland looks poised to put on a great performance in the Origin series, emphasizing their commitment to excellence in the competition.
