Marist Brothers High School has officially joined the ranks of secondary schools in Fiji by becoming the 65th institute to enroll in the Crime Stoppers Scholastic Program. This marks a significant step in promoting discipline, social responsibility, and civic duty among students.
During the launch ceremony, Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu officially introduced members of the school’s new Scholastic Board. These students will spearhead the initiative, dedicating their efforts to creating a nurturing and safe learning environment. Commissioner Tudravu recognized the school’s dedication by stating, “Marist Brothers is pledging to protect its name and legacy by working together for a safer and more respectful learning environment.”
Drawing from his own school days, he encouraged students to carry the same pride and determination they exhibit during sports, particularly in competitions like the Deans Rugby, into their daily behaviors and interactions. He urged them to remain respectful and law-abiding, reflecting positively on their community and nation.
The Crime Stoppers Scholastic Program is instrumental in fostering mutual respect and accountability while ensuring that both students and educators can thrive in a supportive atmosphere. This initiative underscores the importance of collaborative efforts to nurture a generation of responsible individuals.
This recent addition to the program is particularly hopeful, as it aligns with the growing movement among schools to engage young people effectively in crime prevention and social responsibility initiatives. As seen in similar engagements by the Fiji Police Force, it is believed that educating students and involving them in positive community activities will lead to a decline in youth crime, ultimately creating a brighter future for the youth of Fiji. By instilling these values early, Marist Brothers High School is contributing to a culture of respect and responsibility—qualities essential for personal and community development.
