A southeasterly wind flow will dominate Fiji through the weekend, bringing periods of cloud and showers to many parts of the group and a risk of heavy afternoon and evening thunderstorms, particularly over the larger islands. Winds are expected to be moderate to fresh with seas running moderate to rough in most areas.
Cloudy periods with some showers are likely across Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra‑Rakiraki, southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and adjacent islets. Elsewhere conditions will generally be fine apart from the chance of afternoon or evening showers. Afternoon thunderstorms with heavy falls are likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, and similar activity is possible into Sunday.
Main centres can expect warm daytime temperatures with a notable thunderstorm risk. Navua, Suva and Nausori will see cloudy periods with showers and likely afternoon or evening thunderstorms; today's maximum near 31°C and tomorrow’s range about 24–32°C. Nadi, Lautoka and Ba are forecast fine apart from possible afternoon showers but also face the likelihood of heavy thunderstorms, with daytime highs near 33°C and lows around 23–24°C over the next day.
Northern and outer island communities should prepare for similar unsettled spells. Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni are expected to have cloudy periods and showers with afternoon thunderstorms likely, daytime highs generally in the low 30s and overnight lows in the low to mid‑20s. The Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Sigatoka and the Coral Coast should mostly be fine apart from afternoon showers and the chance of heavy thunderstorms late in the day. Lau and Lomaiviti are forecast cloudy periods with showers, with thunderstorms developing at times.
Rotuma is under a separate east‑easterly flow, with a trough expected to affect the island from later today. Cloudy periods with showers will become more frequent and occasional from later in the day; moderate easterly winds and moderate seas are expected. Given the moderate to fresh southeasterlies and moderate to rough seas elsewhere, small craft operators and beachgoers should exercise caution and plan for sudden showers and gusty conditions during afternoon and evening thunderstorms. This bulletin was issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi, at 10:45am on Friday 27 March 2026.
