A moist easterly wind flow will keep much of Fiji under cloud and showers today, with the greatest activity across eastern islands and parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi issued the bulletin at 5:30am on Saturday 14 March 2026, noting afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy falls are likely over the main islands. Winds are expected to be moderate from the east and seas generally moderate.

Cloudy periods with some showers are forecast for Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu and adjacent islets. Elsewhere conditions should be fine apart from the usual afternoon or evening showers. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy falls are most likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

Local details: Navua, Suva and Nausori will see cloudy periods with some showers, with temperatures around 25–32°C and a similar outlook for Sunday. The Coral Coast at Sigatoka can expect mainly fine weather apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls, temperatures 24–32°C. Nadi, Lautoka and Ba are fine apart from possible late showers and thunderstorms, 24–33°C today, easing slightly on Sunday to around 25–32°C. Tavua and Rakiraki follow a similar pattern, 25–32°C. The Yasawa and Mamanuca group will have cloudy periods with some showers, 25–32°C. Labasa is generally fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, 25–33°C. Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni are forecast cloudy with some showers (Nabouwalu 25–32°C today, easing to a 31°C maximum on Sunday; Taveuni 25–31°C). Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu will experience cloudy periods with some showers, around 25–31°C.

Rotuma remains under the influence of a trough of low pressure, bringing cloudy periods with showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls. Winds there will be moderate to fresh easterlies and seas moderate to rough. Temperatures are expected in the 25–31°C range, with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms continuing into Sunday.

Marine interests and coastal communities should note the moderate easterly winds and generally moderate seas across the group, with rougher conditions around Rotuma. With thunderstorms and heavy falls likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu during the afternoons and evenings, people in affected areas should monitor local updates and exercise usual caution during periods of heavy rain.
