Samisoni Mara made a remarkable impression during the closing ceremony of the 2024 season at Ba Golf Club, which took place at FSC Golf Club on Sunday evening. Hailing from Kadavu and residing conveniently close to the golf course, Mara took advantage of his proximity to sharpen his golfing abilities, resulting in significant achievements throughout the season.
Throughout the year, Mara earned the monthly medal titles in July and September, emerged as the season’s champion in the B Grade category, and secured a silver medal in the prestigious Gold Rush competition. Additionally, he was recognized with the nearest to the pin award, highlighting his skill and precision on the course.
In a reflective moment, Mara expressed heartfelt gratitude: “I want to thank God for this award. Living beside the golf course makes it easier for me to practice and improve my game. Next year, I will come out stronger and better prepared,” he vowed.
The 2024 season closing event, which was sponsored by Amins Insurance Services and New India Assurance, showcased outstanding performances from players. The Magic Breakers team, consisting of Anaya Saanvi, Prakrit Naidu, Divnesh Goundar, and Asish Chand, clinched the championship title with an impressive score of 53. The Blues team, which featured Joeli Dakunimata, Ashwin Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, and Sunil Sharma, took second place with a score of 54. The Amin Insurance team rounded out the podium, finishing third with a score of 55.
The individual club championships highlighted more talent, with Asish Chand winning the A Grade title and Ashwin Sharma coming in as runner-up. In the B Grade category, Samisoni Mara triumphed over Brendan Daniel, while Prakrit Naidu captured the C Grade title. In the prestigious Gold Rush competition, Rohit Chandra took home the gold medal, followed by Samisoni Mara with silver, while Raven Kumar earned bronze. Additionally, professional golfer Lotawa Delana was awarded the longest drive accolade, underlining the competitive spirit of the event.
