Navua’s journey in the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup came to an end today as they fell to the Manukau All Stars, suffering a 3-1 defeat in their crucial Group A match at Churchill Park in Lautoka. This result means Manukau has secured their place in the semifinals, showcasing their strength in the tournament.

The scoring opened in the 15th minute when Ni-Vanuatu player Alex Saniel found the back of the net. Captain Jack Caunter extended Manukau’s lead just before halftime, and the tournament’s leading scorer, Garbhan Coughlan, solidified the win early in the second half.

Navua faced an additional challenge when their goalkeeper, Jovilisi Borisi, received a red card after being sent off for violent conduct. Despite being down to ten men, defender Filipe Baravilala managed to score a consolation goal for Navua late in the match.

With Manukau All Stars moving on to the semifinals, the final spot will be determined between the host team, Lautoka, and the AuFFI All Stars, who are facing off in the day’s last game.

This match highlights the competitive nature of the tournament. As teams battle it out, moments like these can serve as learning experiences for the players and the coaching staff of Navua, who can regroup and aim for better performances in future tournaments.

Overall, while Navua’s exit from the cup is disappointing for their fans, it provides an opportunity for regeneration and focus on upcoming challenges.
