Four individuals were apprehended during a drug raid executed in Nanuku Settlement, Vatuwaqa, yesterday. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu, reported that the operation led to the confiscation of a ziplock bag containing white crystals, which are believed to be methamphetamine, along with a separate bag filled with dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
In addition to the drugs, authorities also seized electronic devices that are thought to have been stolen. In a related incident, a 28-year-old man was arrested for the unlawful possession of illicit substances, specifically dried leaves that also appear to be marijuana.
ACP Driu emphasized the Fiji Police Force’s dedication to diminishing the supply of illicit drugs by targeting drug networks through strategic raids. The force is not only focused on enforcement but also on raising awareness about the harmful effects of drugs through their Community Policing initiatives.
The commitment to tackling drug-related issues reflects a hopeful outlook towards enhancing community safety and health by reducing the prevalence of drugs in society. Such proactive measures can help create a more secure environment for all residents.
