In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) recently visited St Christopher’s Home in Nakasi, bringing joy and generosity during the festive season. The staff and management gathered to host a special dinner for the children at the home, coupled with the distribution of gifts, demonstrating their commitment to community outreach and kindness as part of their corporate social responsibility efforts.

LTA’s chief executive, Irimaia Rokosawa, acknowledged the challenges many children at St Christopher’s Home face. The facility acts as a refuge for children from various backgrounds, including those who have been abandoned, neglected, or orphaned. Rokosawa emphasized that each child has a distinct story of struggle and resilience, and LTA’s visit was an opportunity to assure them that they are cherished members of the community.

During the visit, LTA staff from the Valelevu Branch engaged with the children through conversations, singing carols, and enjoying meals together. Rokosawa highlighted how this bonding experience underscored the significance of human connection and the profound impact of simple acts of kindness. He expressed that the event was not just a charitable gesture but an effort to embody compassion—extending beyond the Authority’s primary responsibilities and into the lives they aim to enhance.

For the LTA staff, the experience served as a poignant reminder of the importance of giving back to the community. Those who were unable to attend contributed by organizing the event, showcasing that acts of generosity can extend beyond physical presence.

This uplifting story of compassion and community involvement emphasizes how organizations can play a pivotal role in nurturing societal bonds, particularly during the holiday season. It offers hope that such acts of kindness can inspire others in the community to take similar initiatives, fostering a culture of care and support.
