Keresia Ledua, a young woman from Vanuabalavu, is set to return home for Christmas after dedicating three years to her studies at the University of the South Pacific in Suva. This homecoming is not just a journey; it embodies a deep emotional connection, as Ledua expresses how much she has missed her family, particularly her grandmother.
“I came here for studies at USP and after three years, I’m finally going back home,” Ledua shares, filled with excitement. She looks forward to reuniting with her grandmother, who remains in the village, and her father. The happiness of returning to her roots after such a lengthy absence is palpable in her words.
This year, Ledua intends to center her Christmas celebrations around family and the joy of reconnecting with relatives she hasn’t seen in years. “We’re planning to meet everyone, especially relatives I haven’t seen for three years,” she explains. The festivities will include a gathering of family and friends from the village, where they will celebrate the season with a grand feast and precious time together.
Returning home after a significant period of education adds a profound layer of meaning to her Christmas this year. Ledua anticipates celebrating the holiday among her family and the caring community of her village, marking a joyous reunion that emphasizes the warmth and spirit of togetherness.
