Fiji Men’s National 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau has expressed his pride in player Ponipate Loganimasi for joining the Fijian Drua team. Kolinisau emphasizes the significance of players advancing and seizing opportunities as they come.
Loganimasi, recognized for his speed on the field, will team up with his Paris Olympics colleagues Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada in the Drua Men’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.
In his debut match with the national 15s team, Loganimasi made an immediate impact by scoring two tries in the Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan, stepping up for the Flying Fijians after Ravutaumada’s injury in the first round of the tournament.
Kolinisau has praised Loganimasi’s growth, stating that he hopes all players will follow a similar trajectory from 7s to fifteens rugby. “I’m happy with Loganimasi joining the Drua; that’s what we want—progression, just coming to play in 7s and progressing into fifteens,” said Kolinisau.
He believes that moving to the fifteens format can provide players with significant skill development and financial opportunities. “Great progress because that’s obviously where the money is, so I’m happy for Poni and wish him all the best in his season with the Drua and for his future goals.”
