The Blue Gas Lilian Amazon Women’s 7s team is gearing up for a challenging two-day tournament at the Fiji Bitter Yasawa 7s, which kicks off today at Churchill Park in Lautoka. After achieving victory at the Fiji Bitter Malake 7s in Ra, the Lilians are keenly aware of the difficulties that lie ahead.

Head coach Tirani Uluinakauvadra expressed confidence in the team’s commitment to development, even as several key players are unavailable due to national team duties. “We have a young group of girls representing our club,” Uluinakauvadra stated. “While many of our experienced players are away, our focus on developing talent remains unchanged.”

Uluinakauvadra emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for these young athletes to showcase their skills in this competitive environment. He acknowledged that they face a tough challenge with key players missing but reiterated their commitment to national representation when called upon.

The Lilian team finds itself in Pool B, where they will compete against formidable opponents such as Tagimoucia Ranadi and PC Kadavu Stallion, both known for their resilience and strategic gameplay. In Pool A, the tournament favorites, Wardens Women, will face off against Ezers Women and Yasawa Saints. Wardens Women are anticipated to be a dominant force, yet both Ezers Women and Yasawa Saints appear eager to create surprises throughout the tournament.

With the emphasis on youth development and the chance for young players to shine, the Lilian team faces this challenge with a hopeful outlook, paving the way for future success in women’s rugby. This tournament serves not only as a competitive opportunity but also as a platform for emerging talent to thrive.

Overall, the future looks bright for the Lilian Amazon Women’s team as they embrace this challenge, highlighting the importance of growth and resilience in the sport.
