Levuka Public School’s under-17 netball team has secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the CREST Fiji Secondary School Netball finals 2025 after a strong showing over two days of pool play. The Levuka squad played four matches and won three, advancing despite a setback against Tilak High School.

Akanisi Boleilovoni, a key player for Levuka, spoke about the months of hard work behind their nationals push in Vitilevu. He noted that last year’s Cadet Pass out had prevented the team from competing at nationals, making this opportunity especially meaningful. Boleilovoni also acknowledged the challenge posed by larger Vitilevu schools, stressing the team’s determination to bring home a trophy.

“Coming up against big schools from Vitilevu will be tough, but we’ve prepared well for this competition, and we’re hoping to go back to Levuka with a trophy,” Boleilovoni said. Even with the road ahead, the squad remains focused on the ultimate goal.

“We’ve made it through to the quarter-finals, we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, but there’s still a long way to go, and we have to stay focused if we want the win,” he added, expressing both pride and a steady resolve as the team aims to leave Suva with a trophy.

The Levuka team will now shift its attention to the knockout stage, looking to capitalize on the confidence built during pool play and the chance to perform on netball’s national stage.

In other pool results from the day, U17 Natabua High School defeated Vunimono High 11-8, CMF beat Natabua High 17-15, Suva Grammar edged Jasper Williams 16-4, and Adi Cakobau won a tight 8-7 contest against Suva Grammar. In Open Grade action, Holy Cross defeated Nasinu Muslim 20-10, Gau beat Nasinu Muslim 17-7, and Ratu Finau won 12-8 against Penang. The competition is taking place at the National Netball Centre in Suva and will conclude today.
