Plans for a new swimming pool and the rehabilitation of the bus stand in Lautoka are progressing, as confirmed by Mohammed Anees Khan, the Chief Executive Officer of the Lautoka City Administration. The community has shown strong enthusiasm for these projects, with high hopes for timely completion.

Khan expressed his confidence that a contractor for the bus stand renovation will be chosen and an agreement finalized by the end of this month. The renovations will take a phased approach, similar to the recent upgrades at the Suva Bus Stand, ensuring that the bus station can remain operational throughout the construction period. This strategy emphasizes the importance of disrupting public transport services as little as possible during the upgrade process.

In addition to the bus stand, work on the Lautoka Swimming Pool is also advancing, with anticipated completion by March of next year. The project manager is currently evaluating the progress made and identifying remaining tasks to prepare the facility for community use. There is also potential for the pool to be upgraded to international competitive standards if there is sufficient demand from local residents.

These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to improving leisure facilities and public transport infrastructure in Lautoka, which could enhance community engagement and stimulate interest in swimming and various recreational activities. The anticipated completion of these projects is likely to yield a positive impact on the community by providing modern amenities that encourage healthier lifestyles and enhance public services.

Looking forward, there is optimism that these developments will not only improve infrastructure but also nurture community vitality and engagement, inspiring residents to take a more active role in local recreational pursuits.
