The Fiji Kulas faced a tight 1-0 loss against Papua New Guinea in their final Group B match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ Oceania Qualifiers, held at Govind Park in Ba. Despite the defeat, Fiji successfully advances to the next round of the qualifiers by finishing second in their group.
Both teams entered this match with an impressive record of two wins each, having remained unbeaten prior to this fixture, which was rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions earlier in the week. Papua New Guinea displayed early attacking intent, with Gloria Laeli almost scoring in the first half when her header from a Ramona Padio corner hit the right post.

With this result, Papua New Guinea finished first in Group B, ensuring their own progression alongside Fiji, who moves on as the second-placed team.
Both squads now look ahead to Round Three of the qualifiers, where they will compete with New Zealand and American Samoa next month, continuing their quest for a coveted spot at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
