The R.C. Manubhai Nataleira Sevens tournament director Solo Finau announced that there is still an opportunity for teams to register for the upcoming tournament, which is set to close registrations by tomorrow.

Currently, 12 teams have completed their registration and paid their fees for the Tier One competition, but Finau aims to reach a total of 16 teams. If the number remains at 12 by the end of registration, they will proceed with that number.

In Tier Two, which is the category for regular sevens teams, 16 teams have already expressed their interest, with registration locked once all teams confirm their payment of $300. The women’s category, or Tier Three, has six teams confirmed, and Finau hopes to reach eight teams before the deadline. Meanwhile, in Tier Four, which caters to Under-19 players, eight teams are confirmed, but they are also aiming for a total of 16 teams in that category. To verify age groups, Voter Registration ID cards will be utilized.

The tournament has a significant goal, aiming to raise $30,000 to aid in the construction of the Nataleira Methodist Church. This church has faced hardships, as it was partially damaged during Cyclone Winston and completely destroyed by Cyclone Harold.

Ticket prices for the event are set at $2 for children under 12 and $5 for adults on Thursday and Friday, with Saturday prices slightly higher for adults at $7.

Overall, the tournament not only promotes sports but also aims to provide essential support for community rebuilding efforts following natural disasters. With a focus on raising funds for a noble cause, the event promises to be a meaningful gathering for both participants and spectators.

As the registration deadline approaches, it is encouraging to see the community coming together to support their local teams and the unfortunate victims of the cyclones. This sense of solidarity reflects the enduring spirit of resilience and hope within the community.
