Residents of Nakabuta remain uncertain about the ongoing landslides that have impacted their community since last year. The continual erosion has disrupted their primary source of income, which is derived from the sea. Community members report that sediments have buried the foundations of their local church and community hall.

Tomasi Tunabuna, the Assistant Minister for Waterways, stated that he will withhold any comments until the teams on the ground complete their data collection. He emphasized that the gathered information will help create a clearer understanding of the situation. Tunabuna added that the ministry plans to hold further discussions with stakeholders once more information is available.
