Labasa, the champions of the BiC Fiji FACT, are prioritizing their league matches over the celebration of their recent victory. Head coach Alvin Chand stated that while winning the FACT is a significant achievement, the team’s focus is now on topping the league standings this season.
Following their successful final match last Sunday, the team has swiftly resumed training to maintain their fitness. Chand noted, “After the final, we traveled back to Labasa early Monday morning. The boys had a good rest, but on Tuesday we resumed training.” He mentioned it would be imprudent to celebrate the victory while league matches are resuming, to prevent any drop in fitness levels.
The celebration for their FACT triumph may be scheduled for sometime next week. Before that, Labasa has an upcoming league match against Nasinu, set for tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Uprising Sports Centre in Navua.
This emphasis on commitment and focus reflects Labasa’s resilient spirit, especially after overcoming challenges in the tournament, such as the earlier loss to Nadroga. Their determination to perform well in the league mirrors the challenges discussed in previous articles about Fijian football, where resilience and community support play a critical role in the players’ success.
Labasa’s journey continues to be a source of hope and inspiration for fans, showcasing the heartbeat of Fijian football. Their quest for excellence not only makes them a competitive team but also symbolizes the pride and dedication of the local community.
