Labasa FC is making tactical adjustments as they look to enhance their goal-scoring effectiveness ahead of their crucial semifinal match in the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT tournament. Coach Alvin Chand emphasized that the team could have achieved better results in their group stage matches if they had made more strategic choices in front of the net. “We worked upon our decision making and finishing in front of the goal. Our team shape in midfield and defending in the midfield third were also important areas we focused on,” he noted.

The Babasiga Lions are currently enjoying a strong position at the top of their league, and they aim to carry this momentum into the semifinal against Lautoka. With this being their first tournament of the year, winning against Lautoka is crucial for setting a dominating tone for the season. However, they face challenges with Christopher Wasasala and Ashneel Raju recovering from injuries sustained during the group stages. Fortunately, both players are expected to be ready for the upcoming match.

Chand also highlighted Lautoka’s impressive resilience, particularly their performance after experiencing a slower start in the Extra Premier League. He anticipates a competitive matchup, with Lautoka expected to apply significant pressure from the outset as they seek to defend their title.

The semifinal will take place at HFC Bank Stadium at 2 PM on Saturday, followed by a match between hosts Suva and Rewa at 4:30 PM. Fans can listen to the live commentary on Radio Fiji Two, enhancing the community’s engagement with this thrilling tournament.

This semi-final promises to be a captivating clash of strategies, showcasing the excitement and high stakes of Fijian football. As the tournament unfolds, there is a hopeful anticipation for inspiring performances from both teams that could unite fans and foster a deeper love for the sport in Fiji.
