KPMG Fiji has promoted two senior staff to partnership as part of a planned expansion of its local leadership team, the firm announced on Friday. Mehul Tailor and Nalin Kumar were elevated to partner roles, bringing the number of partners at KPMG Fiji from six to eight, a move the firm says will strengthen its capacity to serve clients across Fiji and the South Pacific.

Managing partner Sharvek Naidu said the appointments build a “strong and diverse leadership team, one well‑positioned to drive innovation and support sustainable growth throughout the South Pacific.” He added that increasing the partnership “will help strengthen the firm’s offer to both clients and the community,” noting rising demand for professional services in the region.

Mehul Tailor has been with KPMG Fiji for 18 years, beginning his career through the firm’s Vocational Employment program and joining the Suva office in 2011 as a graduate accountant. Tailor is KPMG Fiji’s financial services sector lead and has experience reporting under US auditing standards. Naidu highlighted Tailor’s regional work across central banks, energy and utilities, media and telecommunications, retail and leisure, and manufacturing. Tailor has also played a prominent role in capacity building as a KPMG Clara Champion and Accredited Sampling professional, and has conducted audit and IFRS technical training for clients and professionals across the Pacific.

Nalin Kumar brings more than two decades of public practice experience to the partnership, having served a wide client base from small and medium enterprises to multinational corporations, listed entities, financial institutions and statutory bodies across Fiji and the Pacific. Kumar spent three years seconded to KPMG’s Darwin office, broadening his exposure to regional and international audit practices, and spent nearly three years in business and tax advisory. His advisory work included technical accounting and tax advice and end‑to‑end compliance services such as financial statement preparation, bookkeeping, executive payroll and statutory reporting.

Naidu described Kumar as offering “valuable and extensive practical experience across audit and business and tax advisory,” saying he provides “sound, balanced advice that considers both risk and commercial outcomes” and is committed to mentoring teams and driving operational improvements.

Both new partners are currently based in KPMG’s Suva office but are scheduled to relocate to Nadi from early next year. The move is likely intended to bolster the firm’s presence in Fiji’s Western Division, a commercial and tourism hub where demand for accounting, audit and advisory services is growing.

The promotions are the latest in a series of leadership changes at KPMG Fiji as the firm seeks to expand its footprint across the South Pacific and respond to increasing demand for audit, tax and advisory work. The appointments are expected to enhance the firm’s sector capabilities and regional service delivery as it works with both public and private sector clients.
