The year 2024 marks a significant milestone for the Koroi family, as their eldest son, Tevita Tucaketale Koroi, proudly received the prestigious Dux award from Queen Victoria School on Friday. At just 18 years old, Tevita credits this achievement to the unwavering support of his parents, who have dedicated themselves to his education and well-being.

Tevita expressed his gratitude, saying, “Mom and dad are my inspiration. They’ve sacrificed a lot for me, which is why I work so hard. They put in all this effort for my siblings and me.” He also shared how he has been striving for this moment, attributing his success to his faith and perseverance, acknowledging the daily prayers and fasting he committed to achieve this goal.

Originally from Raviravi, Matuku Lau, and with maternal ties to Nakasaleka, Kadavu, Tevita is the eldest of six siblings. He began his high school journey at Natabua High School in Lautoka before transferring to Queen Victoria School. Despite facing various challenges during his time at QVS, he feels immense gratitude for reaching this important milestone.

Tevita’s mother, Ravi Drodro Koroi, described her overwhelming emotions upon witnessing her son succeed, saying, “We are a family that moves together. Having him at QVS was challenging, but we thank God for the achievements he has made — achievements we never thought were possible.” She emphasized the family’s reliance on faith, declaring that all glory goes to God.

Tevita’s journey emphasizes the importance of balancing academic responsibilities with extracurricular activities and personal life. He encourages students to prioritize time management and maintain a strong connection to their beliefs as essential components of success.

This story not only highlights individual achievement but also underscores the power of family support and faith in overcoming obstacles. It serves as an inspiration for others to pursue their dreams with determination and gratitude.
