Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises & Communications Manoa Kamikamica has reiterated his unwavering support for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka amid ongoing scrutiny related to the Commissioner of Inquiry (COI) report. Following a Cabinet meeting, Kamikamica dismissed rumors of division within their coalition government and emphasized the party’s unity and focus on development.
Kamikamica highlighted several positive initiatives, stating, “We just came out of Cabinet and made some very good decisions — things move on.” He pointed to the launch of a National Digital Strategy and partnerships with Google and Starlink as significant advancements for Fiji, while also mentioning ongoing infrastructure projects, including two hotels under construction.
Despite acknowledging the challenges inherited by the current government, he assured that progress has been made, asserting, “Fiji doesn’t realize how much hard work has been going on.” He explained that restoring the nation’s governance had been a slow process due to previous mismanagement over 16 years.
Responding to questions regarding the recent termination of Barbra Malimali, Kamikamica reaffirmed his support for Rabuka, stating, “The support for the Prime Minister, as far as I’m aware, is unequivocal.” He emphasized the government’s commitment to navigating challenges while focusing on the nation’s welfare, dismissing speculation regarding internal discord.
This message of stability and ongoing development resonates with previous statements made by Kamikamica in the face of dissent, reinforcing a vision for a united Fiji. He believes that by addressing current fears and focusing on constructive advancements, there is an opportunity for the coalition to strengthen its resolve while enhancing governance and stability in the face of political challenges.
With ongoing initiatives aimed at revitalizing the economy and enhancing digital infrastructure, there is a hopeful outlook for Fiji’s progress under the current leadership, emphasizing collaboration towards a brighter future for the nation.
