The TEMC Birdland Kadavu team is determined to secure the under-18-21 title as a heartfelt Christmas present for their families back home in Kadavu. In their first pool match, they delivered a dominant performance, defeating the Village Boys 31-0. This victory was particularly satisfying for the team as they sought to avenge a previous loss during the elimination stages of the Fiji Bitter Yalovata Lomaiviti 7s.

Team captain Ratu Lacavukivuki Bainivalu shared that many players on the team have faced challenges in their education, leading them to focus on showcasing their rugby talents. “Though many of us have dropped out of school, we are using our skills in rugby to provide for our families and further our understanding of the sport,” Bainivalu explained.

While the team is focused on achieving success at the tournament, they recognize the strength of their competitors. “We aspire to win, but we know other teams are also vying for the title. We’re committed to working hard to achieve our goal and provide a memorable Christmas for our families,” he added.

Currently, the team is competing in Pool Three alongside BLK Lavidi, VDM Black Heron, Roots Exile, and Nasolo.

This upbeat narrative highlights the resilience and determination of young athletes striving to make a difference in their families’ lives through sports. Their focus on both teamwork and personal development not only serves their immediate ambitions in this tournament but is also a testament to the impact of sports on community and family dynamics.

In summary, the TEMC Birdland Kadavu team aims to win the under-18-21 title, seeking to provide a special Christmas gift for their families, showcasing their dedication to both their sport and their loved ones.
