The Kadavu Rugby Union has taken a significant step forward in preparing for the 2025 season by securing an apparel sponsorship with the prominent sportswear company, Axellerate. This partnership is timely as Kadavu gears up for participation in both the Vanua Cup and the Marama Cup campaigns. Union President Lynda Tabuya expressed her gratitude, highlighting the importance of this support for the teams as they aim for national-level competitions.

Kadavu’s women’s team is set to make its debut in the Marama Cup this year, having earned their place through a decisive 19-5 victory over Cakaudrove in last year’s Ranadi Trophy Final. The men’s team is ambitious, aiming to reach the Vanua Cup final to secure a promotion to the prestigious Skipper Cup. Both teams have been immersed in rigorous training sessions, ready to face their upcoming challenges.

Previously, Kadavu’s women’s team made headlines with their inaugural appearance in the Marama Cup, where they highlighted significant preparation to face strong contenders like defending champions Suva. Community support has played a vital role, with the Kadavu Provincial Council significantly increasing their financial contributions to support the women’s team.

The collaboration with Axellerate not only provides new kits but also marks a milestone in Kadavu Rugby’s journey, demonstrating a robust community backing and the strategic support needed to foster local talent. Such partnerships are vital for nurturing the growth of rugby, especially in regions that face logistical challenges due to their geographical location.

The enthusiasm from both teams, combined with the strong community support, sets a positive and hopeful tone for the future of rugby in Kadavu. This partnership underscores a broader commitment to elevating the sport’s status while promoting the vibrant culture and resilience of the island’s teams on national platforms. With this foundation, Kadavu Rugby is well-positioned to inspire a new generation of players and supporters, driving forward the development of rugby in the region.
