Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Professor Biman Prasad, has commenced a two-day official visit to Kadavu, focusing on engaging with local communities and tackling essential development priorities. He is accompanied by Attorney General Graham Leung, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua, and Assistant Minister for Public Works and Transport Naisa Tuinaceva.

The delegation was warmly received, with traditional ceremonies reflecting the community’s respect for the government. Key issues were discussed, including the urgent need for housing for civil servants, additional vehicles for critical services, and enhancements to power supply and water infrastructure. The community also raised concerns about high transportation costs.

Professor Prasad reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving these issues and promoting sustainable development in Kadavu. He expressed the intention to provide necessary resources and services to improve the living standards of the island’s residents.

This visit aligns with Professor Prasad’s broader initiative to enhance local infrastructures across Fiji, underscoring the government’s focus on health, education, and agricultural development. Recent outreach efforts, such as his visit to Seaqaqa to discuss the Vanua Levu Tourism Development Project, demonstrate a commitment to economic growth and the creation of job opportunities.

The ongoing dialogue and active government presence suggest a promising path toward collaborative development and improved infrastructure in Kadavu and other regions, fostering hope for a better future for local communities.
