A father has been found guilty of sexual crimes against his biological daughter, following a ruling by Lautoka judge Justice Sunil Sharma. He was convicted on two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape stemming from incidents that took place over the last year.

According to court records, the father committed the first assault when his daughter was leaving the washroom. She later confided in her mother about her father’s inappropriate behavior. A second incident occurred while the accused was sleeping in the same room as his daughter, her older sister, and two brothers, during which he again assaulted her. The situation only came to light when her eldest sister discovered the father in the act.

Justice Sharma dismissed the accused’s defense, indicating it lacked credibility in light of the evidence presented. He emphasized the need to recognize the gravity of the accused’s actions, which he deemed indecent and reprehensible.

This case serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of believing and supporting survivors of sexual violence. It highlights the critical role that vigilance, family communication, and reporting can play in bringing such heinous acts to light and ensuring justice is served. While the situation is tragic, the conviction of the perpetrator offers hope to survivors and advocates for greater awareness and preventive measures against sexual abuse.

In summary, a father has been convicted of sexually assaulting his daughter, bringing attention to the critical need for support systems and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence.
