A Jetstar flight bound for Sydney had to return to Nadi this evening due to a suspected oil leak in one of its engines. The aircraft, identified as flight JQ120, had taken off earlier for Sydney when it reported the issue mid-flight.
Fiji Airports stated that Air Traffic Control was informed of the situation promptly, leading to the immediate activation of Airport Emergency Services. Additionally, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) was established in accordance with the Nadi Airport Emergency Plan to manage the situation effectively.
The flight returned without incident, landing safely at Nadi International Airport at approximately 7:50 PM. Upon landing, the pilot confirmed that the aircraft was functioning normally and no further technical issues were observed.
Following standard safety and operational procedures, the Full Emergency phase was officially called off and all emergency services were subsequently stood down. Airport officials reassured the public that regular airport operations were not disrupted during the incident, demonstrating effective crisis management protocols in place at Nadi Airport.
