Viliame Gavoka, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, has announced that there have not been any additional cases reported at the Warwick Resort in Sigatoka following an alarming incident where seven guests experienced severe neurological symptoms after consuming a cocktail.

Gavoka explained that the Ministry of Health has conducted preliminary investigations and confirmed that this is an isolated case, specifically affecting only the seven individuals at a designated bar within the resort. Importantly, he noted that no other incidents have surfaced either at the resort or elsewhere in Fiji.

Highlighting the resort’s longstanding success and reputable presence in Fiji, Gavoka reassured future guests that this occurrence is not indicative of broader safety concerns.

This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and rapid response in the hospitality industry. It’s encouraging to see that health authorities acted swiftly to investigate and address the situation, ensuring the safety of tourists and the reputation of Fiji as a desirable travel destination remains intact.

Overall, the positive message is clear: Fiji continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of its visitors while maintaining the high standards for which it is known.
