More convincing efforts are necessary to draw Chinese investors to Vatukoula Gold Mines. This statement comes after a Chinese delegation met with government officials following their investment assessment of the Vatukoula site. Ian He, a spokesman for Vatukoula Gold, noted that the visiting delegation consisted of representatives who have previously invested in a mining operation in Australia.

“They are in Fiji to examine the investment climate at Vatukoula’s invitation,” He mentioned. “Significant efforts will be required to persuade them to invest in Vatukoula.”

The group’s visit was part of their tour of Australia. The discussions gained attention after online influencer Alex Forwood inquired about the status of a mining project at Mt Kasi, directing her questions to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Lands Minister Filimoni Vosarogo.

Vatukoula Gold has received government approval to conduct mineral exploration at Mt Kasi but has yet to initiate the work due to opposition from landowners in Macuata.
