The Indonesian government is investing $12 million to revitalize the regional training center and demonstration farm at the Dobuilevu Research Station in Ra, Fiji. This announcement was made by Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka during a press conference in Sabeto, Nadi.

Prime Minister Rabuka praised Indonesia’s initiative, highlighting that the funding is part of an ongoing program aimed at enhancing agriculture in Fiji. He noted Indonesia’s successful experience in transforming its agro-based economy to support its rapidly growing population, underscoring their commitment to food security. Rabuka emphasized that Indonesia is keen to share its knowledge and resources with Fiji, which has maintained strong ties with Jakarta, especially during challenging times in the past.

This grant will not only support agricultural development but is also expected to generate employment opportunities and empower local communities, especially women. Rabuka expressed optimism that such investments will pave the way for a more prosperous future.

The collaboration reflects a broader commitment from Indonesia to support Fiji and the wider Pacific region, reinforcing the friendship first established in 1974. This revitalization project is also part of ongoing discussions between the two nations focused on mutual assistance in agriculture and climate resilience, indicating a hopeful path forward for both nations.

As both countries continue to collaborate, the focus on agriculture and training signifies a shared vision for sustainable growth and stability in the region. This partnership fosters positive prospects, not only for economic cooperation but also for cultural exchange and friendship between the peoples of Fiji and Indonesia.
