Police officers assigned to the Namaka Police Station at the time of the late Richard Mock’s arrest have been interviewed through Video Recording Interviews (VRI) as part of an ongoing investigation. Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has indicated that the investigative team from the Criminal Investigations Department has completed the questioning phase and is now focusing on compiling all statements and forensic evidence. This thorough process will facilitate the preparation of the investigation file for submission to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

At this point in the investigation, authorities have confirmed that police were the last individuals in contact with Mr. Mock. Investigators are diligently working to establish a timeline of events and the circumstances surrounding his death. Commissioner Tudravu expressed his condolences to Mr. Mock’s family, assuring them that a transparent investigation will be conducted, involving independent legal advice from the ODPP.

The Commissioner urged the public to trust the investigative process, emphasizing that the Fiji Police Force is committed to transparency and accountability. He reinforced that any claims against police officers will be met with due process, and officers should be prepared to face any repercussions linked to their conduct.

Understanding the family’s desire for answers, Commissioner Tudravu promised to keep them informed and requested that investigators be granted the necessary time to complete their work. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

This case highlights the importance of accountability within law enforcement and the need for thorough investigations in incidents involving police actions. It serves as a reminder of the commitment to ensuring justice and transparency in the face of public concern.
