Fulori Diraboki, a remarkable 13-year-old who was recognized as the dux of Dravo District School despite facing significant challenges, is set to receive a Fiji Children’s Award on Friday. Her inspiring journey, which includes taking care of her bedridden mother while excelling in her studies, has resonated with many Fijians on social media.
Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, commended Fulori for her exemplary character and achievements. Fulori not only earned the Year 8 Dux Trophy at her school located in Tailevu but did so while managing daily household responsibilities.
“I want to congratulate Fulori for the amazing results in her exams. The ministry is very proud of her,” expressed Ms. Tabuya. She also highlighted her personal connection to Fulori, being from the same district, Tawake in Cakaudrove, which adds a familial pride to Fulori’s accomplishments.
The ceremony, organized by the ministry in partnership with the Fiji Children’s Award, will take place at 5 PM. Ms. Tabuya emphasized that this award celebrates children who have excelled in their communities and families, and Fulori’s story of resilience and dedication makes her a deserving recipient.
The recognition of Fulori not only shines a light on her individual achievements but also serves as an inspiration to others facing difficulties. Her story reflects the potential within every young person to overcome barriers and achieve greatness, serving as a beacon of hope for many in similar situations.
