IHG Fiji Hotels, which is owned by the FNPF, successfully wrapped up their Movember campaign this week, raising an impressive $5,000 for Lifeline Fiji. This month-long initiative focused on important men’s health issues such as mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer, while fostering open conversations and encouraging community engagement.
The campaign, which is part of the globally recognized Movember movement, encouraged participants to grow moustaches as a way to spark discussions about health issues often considered taboo. IHG Fiji Hotels utilized this global initiative to develop unique experiences for both guests and staff, fully engaging with the cause through specialized events and offerings.
A significant aspect of the campaign was the Mental Health Awareness Sessions facilitated by Lifeline Fiji. These sessions, held in November at all three hotels, provided a safe space for discussions on mental well-being, equipping attendees with essential resources and professional support.
Lifeline Fiji plays a crucial role in providing 24/7 crisis support, suicide prevention services, and resilience-building workshops throughout the islands. Throughout November, guests were treated to various Movember-themed experiences across the participating hotels.
Lachlan Walker, the Portfolio General Manager for IHG Hotels & Resorts within FNPF-Owned Hotels, emphasized that Movember is pivotal for initiating conversations and addressing the stigma surrounding men’s health. He noted that the hotel group has raised awareness, inspired positive action, and contributed to the well-being of the community through their donation to Lifeline Fiji, supporting its critical services nationwide.
Walker reinforced the commitment of the hotels to initiatives that promote community well-being, underscoring their ongoing dedication to hospitality and social responsibility.
This campaign not only raised vital funds but also created a platform for ongoing dialogue about men’s health, highlighting the importance of community involvement in tackling such issues. The positive impact of the Movember campaign resonates well beyond the funds raised, fostering a culture of awareness and support that can lead to real change.
