InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva (IHG) recently held a Christmas cocktail event at the Grand Pacific Hotel, bringing together clients and stakeholders. The event served as a moment for the group to celebrate the successful year and express gratitude to shareholders, business partners, and customers for their ongoing support.
Lachlan Walker, the general manager for IHG Portfolio, highlighted the achievements of the year across the three FNPF-owned hotels in Fiji. He emphasized that their shared commitment extends beyond providing excellent hospitality; it also includes impactful initiatives focused on environmental protection and community improvement.
One notable initiative is the “Litter for a Latte” beach clean-up program, which successfully collected over 850 kilograms of waste from Natadola beach, with a goal of reaching one tonne by year-end. The hotels have also spearheaded the rubbish awareness campaign “If you can’t bin it, bag it.”
Additionally, IHG has raised nearly $70,000 through various fundraising efforts such as Cup of Kindness Coffee Donations and cocktail and spa donations, funding important community projects in education, healthcare, and sustainability. Their Community Care Fund has contributed over $130,000 to local initiatives in Natadola and Suva.
Walker further mentioned IHG’s global initiative, Giving for Good month, which provided 1,600 meals to those in need in Suva and Nadi through partnerships with local organizations like Sacred Heart Kitchen and St Vincent De Paul.
This event not only closed out a productive year for IHG but also showcased their dedication to making a positive impact on both the environment and local communities.
In summary, the IHG Christmas cocktail event was a celebration of a fruitful year, highlighting their commitment to excellence and community support. Such efforts reflect a growing awareness of corporate responsibility in the hospitality industry, fostering a hopeful outlook for future initiatives aimed at environmental sustainability and community welfare.
