The Suva City Council has announced that the dates for the upcoming Hibiscus Festival will be finalized next week. Tevita Boseiwaqa, the chief executive officer of the council, confirmed this development. Although specific details of the festival have yet to be released, it has been officially announced that Flour Mills of Fiji Limited (FMF Foods Limited) will serve as the major sponsor for the festival, highlighting its commitment to support community initiatives.

FMF Group Operations Manager Jimi Taniela emphasized the significance of this partnership, expressing pride in stepping up as the major sponsor for the 2025 Hibiscus Festival. He stated that the festival serves as a celebration of community, culture, and youth opportunities, reinforcing the company’s dedication to giving back to Fiji.

Mr. Boseiwaqa echoed these sentiments, thanking FMF for its support and underscoring the festival’s role as a celebration of unity among diverse Fijians. “This festival is for the people, regardless of race or class; we all come together to celebrate as one,” he said, illustrating the festival’s deep-rooted importance in fostering community spirit.

The Hibiscus Festival is Fiji’s longest-running festival, having commenced in 1956. Its legacy continues to thrive, emphasizing cultural appreciation and community involvement.

This year, as with previous years, the event is expected to bring together locals and visitors alike, uniting them in celebration. The hope is to continue the festival’s tradition of inclusiveness and community pride, which are essential for cultivating a harmonious society.

With the positive energy surrounding the event and the continued support from local businesses like FMF, the Hibiscus Festival appears poised for a vibrant future filled with shared experiences and joy for all participants.
