Henkell, the largest exporter of German sparkling wine, has teamed up with the Motibhai Group of Companies to launch its esteemed collection in Fiji. The introduction was celebrated at the Henkell Wine and Wave event held at the Crowne Plaza in Nadi, offering guests a chance to taste various sparkling wines.

Philip Wells, chief commercial officer of Henkell-Freixenet, shared that the company has a rich history of 165 years and is renowned for its robust presence in over 100 countries. He highlighted that Henkell is the top seller of imported sparkling wine in Australia, attributed to both the quality of their product and its affordability. The company stands out in the industry due to its unique Charmat method and a resting period on lees for six months, a practice that Mr. Wells noted is uncommon at their price point, making it a valuable offering.

Nitesh Chand, business development manager for Motibhai Group, emphasized the significance of this partnership, noting that Henkell wines, such as Henkell Rose, Henkell Troken dry sec, and Henkell Blanc de Blanc, enhance their portfolio. He expressed gratitude for the collaboration, which includes training sessions aimed at educating local retailers and enhancing the overall wine experience in Fiji.

This partnership aligns well with the growing trend in Fiji’s hospitality industry, where there is a strong focus on elevating beverage offerings. Similar to other recent initiatives, such as the introduction of Amrut Indian Whisky at Fiji’s first speakeasy bar, the move reflects a commitment to enriching the local culinary landscape. Such developments promise to bolster Fiji’s reputation as a vibrant destination for wine and spirits enthusiasts, enhancing its appeal to both locals and tourists alike.

This initiative not only introduces high-quality products to the Fijian market but also fosters cultural exchange and appreciation for fine beverages, serving as a hopeful reminder of the possibilities within the local hospitality sector. The advancements in beverage experiences indicate an exciting future for tourism and local businesses in Fiji.
