Heavy Rain Warning for Fiji: Persistent Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Across the Region

Weather Bulletin – Believe it or Not!

Issued with a sprinkle of humor from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 11:00 pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

The entire Fiji Group is under a “Rainy Days Are Here Again” heavy rain warning! For the full scoop, check out the Special Weather Bulletin from NWFC, Nadi. Spoiler alert: it’s wet out there!

Here’s the skinny: There’s an active trough lurking about, unleashing clouds and rain that seem to have settled in for a cozy stay over Fiji. Don’t worry—this guest will be moving eastward by Sunday, but until then, it’s giving us a thorough soaking!

Forecast to midnight Friday for our lovely Fiji group:
You guessed it—expect periods of rain, heavy at times, and a few of those dramatic thunderstorms over Yasawa, Mamanuca, Viti Levu, Kadavu, and their smaller island buddies. But fear not, rain should ease to light showers by tomorrow, starting from the west.

Elsewhere, count on occasional rain (heavy at times!), with some thunderstorm performances expected. The rain will be on the rise starting tomorrow but should taper off by Saturday—it’s like nature’s own soap opera!

Be mindful: Localized heavy falls could lead to flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas where water seems to love gathering for a party. Winds will be moderate to fresh from the north, and the seas reflect our skies, moderate to rough.

Forecast Outlook for Saturday: The rain should gradually ease to showers as the weekend progresses, like a friend finally deciding to leave the party.

For specific locations:
– **Navua / Suva / Nausori**: Buckle up for rain, heavy at times with a sprinkle of thunderstorms, easing into showers later.
– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Expect rain and a few thunderstorm guests, with showers expected later.
– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba**: Same story—rain and thunderstorms, with a side of showers coming soon.
– **Tavua/Rakiraki**: Keep the umbrellas handy; it’s going to rain, but showers should follow.
– **Natadradave/Korovou**: Load up on those raincoats, with a chance of thunderstorms.
– **Yasawa/Mamanuca group**: More rain! But showers will eventually show up.
– **Labasa**: Occasional rain on the horizon.
– **Savusavu**: You guessed it—heavy rain and a star-studded thunderstorm lineup!
– **Lau/Lomaiviti**: Bring your raft for occasional rain.
– **Kadavu**: Rain, rain, but showers are coming to save the day!
– **Rotuma**: It’s rainy with some thunder too—a bit of wind, but nothing too crazy.

There you have it, folks! Time to grab your umbrellas and wade into this weather extravaganza. Stay safe and keep those spirits up—after all, it’s just water falling from the sky!
