Weather Update
Hello, Fiji! Buckle up because we’ve got a heavy rain alert riding in on the weather wagon and it’s here to stay for the foreseeable future. If you’re planning any outdoor activities, you might want to reconsider or at least invest in some fashionable rain gear!
Currently, a lazy trough of low pressure is hanging out just north of us, and it seems like it has brought along its cloud and rain entourage. Thanks, but no thanks! This moisture-laden northwesterly wind is blowing in to ensure that you may have some questionable hair days ahead.
Now, onto the forecast—hold onto your umbrellas, folks!
For our friends in Vanua Levu, Lau, and Lomaiviti, expect occasional rain that may decide to throw a tantrum at times, accompanied by a few thunderstorms. Who doesn’t love a little thunder to spice up a rain dance?
If you’re situated in the interior parts of Viti Levu, including Sigatoka, Navua, Suva, and up to Tailevu North, expect those occasional showers to ramp up to full on rain extravaganzas this afternoon or evening. And yep, you guessed it—thunderstorms too!
Elsewhere on the islands, occasional rain is the headline act, with some isolated heavy downpours and the usual thunderstorm suspects making an appearance. Keep your eyes peeled for flash flooding in the low-lying and flood-prone areas, as Mother Nature seems to be feeling a bit dramatic.
On Monday, the outlook isn’t changing much, folks! We’ll continue the occasional rain party with heavy splashes and even more thunderstorms across Vanua Levu, Lau, and Lomaiviti. For other regions, it’s still a mix of occasional showers and the occasional decision to rain heavily.
From Navua, Suva, Nausori to the splendid gems of Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, and beyond, pretty much everyone will have to navigate through some rain. And remember, no outing is complete without the chance of a brief thunderstorm making a flashy entrance.
So, if you’re in the Yasawa/Mamanuca group or anywhere else mentioned, it’s going to be a bumpy ride with the rain and thunder joining the party—heavy at times and downright persistent!
And for you lovely folks in Rotuma, the rain charm remains strong with moderate winds and choppy seas.
In summary, grab your raincoat, hold onto that umbrella, and don’t forget the galoshes—it’s going to be quite a soggy weekend! Stay safe and dry, Fiji!
