The Kadavu Medical Team, in partnership with the staff of Sai Prema Children’s Hospital, successfully held their inaugural ECHO Outreach day for children in Daviqele, Nabukelevu. This event aimed to conduct echocardiograms, a crucial diagnostic tool for identifying heart issues, including damage from heart attacks, heart failure, and congenital heart defects.
To facilitate access for families, the Ministry provided complimentary transportation for children and their guardians to and from the screening location.
During this outreach, an impressive total of 395 children underwent screening, revealing 19 new cases of Rheumatic Heart Disease. This count is separate from cases of Congenital Heart Disease, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in addressing children’s heart health.
The success of this outreach exemplifies the dedication of healthcare providers to improve health outcomes for children, demonstrating a significant commitment to early diagnosis and intervention in heart disease.
