The Ministry of Health and Medical Services is actively investigating a concerning incident at the Warwick Resort located in Sigatoka. This follows reports that seven guests sought medical attention at Sigatoka Hospital after experiencing nausea, vomiting, and neurological symptoms. They had consumed a cocktail from the resort’s bar prior to their symptoms emerging.
Among those affected, four are Australian tourists, one is American, and two are foreign nationals residing in Fiji. The patients, whose ages range from 18 to 56 years, have been transferred to Lautoka Hospital due to the seriousness of their conditions.
In response, the Ministry has deployed a team of Health Inspectors to thoroughly investigate the incident at the resort and to identify any other guests who may be experiencing similar symptoms after drinking the same cocktail. Additionally, the Fiji Police Force is conducting its own investigation into the matter.
The Ministry is urging the public to exercise caution and ensure that the food and beverages they consume during the festive season are safe.
