Former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is receiving treatment at Aspen Medical Hospital following a minor stroke, as confirmed by his brother, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. The incident occurred Monday afternoon when Aiyaz collapsed at his Khidmat Law office. He was quickly transported to Lautoka Aspen Hospital for medical assistance.

As his family remains supportive during this challenging time, Riyaz expressed concern for his brother’s health, revealing that Aiyaz has been unwell for some time. Medical professionals are currently running tests to assess his condition.

Sandeep Narayan Singh, an aspiring politician, also extended his wishes for a swift recovery, emphasizing the need for compassion in times of illness regardless of political differences. He noted that Aiyaz’s health should not be intertwined with the legal situations he faces, calling for humanity during these tough moments.

This health scare comes just under a year after Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was denied permission by the Suva Magistrate Court to travel abroad for urgent medical treatment, which had been deemed necessary by a doctor due to his existing cardiac issues. The ongoing challenges related to his health are compounded by the significant legal battles he faces, with multiple serious charges pending against him.

The community’s responses highlight a shared sentiment of hope that Aiyaz will recover and regain his strength soon. His resilience during this crisis offers a reminder of the importance of compassion and support within society, regardless of personal or political circumstances.
