The Kadavu Medical Team, in partnership with the dedicated staff of Sai Prema Children’s Hospital, successfully organized their inaugural ECHO Outreach day for children in Daviqele, Nabukelevu. This initiative aimed to provide essential echocardiogram screenings, a vital tool for diagnosing various heart conditions, including those resulting from heart attacks, heart failure, and congenital defects.

In a commendable effort to eliminate transportation barriers, the Ministry facilitated free transportation for children and their guardians, ensuring they could attend the screenings without any hassle.

During this outreach event, a remarkable total of 395 children were screened. The screenings revealed 19 new cases of Rheumatic Heart Disease, in addition to those diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease.

This outreach effort not only highlights the importance of accessible healthcare services but also underscores the critical need for ongoing awareness and prevention programs in the community. Such initiatives are pivotal in identifying health issues early on, which can significantly enhance treatment outcomes for affected children.

Overall, this successful ECHO outreach day serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating the positive impact of collaboration between medical teams and community support in addressing children’s health challenges.
